# formula/function

Hi Class, For this week’s topic, you have to provide a formula/function, step-by-step calculations/explanations, comparisons, and graph representations of both, exponential and logarithmic functions. For instance, how do you calculate y-variables for the given x- variables? You have to show and explain your work, and graph your final results. Also, please complete your Knewton assignments, before you submit your comment for this discussion board. Thank you. Mirela Negoita. Here is a good solved example from a student who created his own data: “1. Find or create a data set that represents an exponential relation. For part 1 I am using the following exponential formula to show the exponential relation for a data set I created: f(x) = 22-3 X 1 x N 00 у 0.25 0.50 2 32 4 2. Discuss how you determined part 1. The calculation of my y-values using the formula above resulted in the following graph: This graph shows a curve that represents the multiplication of my base (2) by my power (x-3) based on the input value. 3. Find or create a data set that represents a logarithmic relation. For part 3 I am using the following logarithmic formula to show the logarithmic relation of a data set I created. y = = log2 (2) = (?)’ = 2-y 2= 3. Find or create a data set that represents a logarithmic relation. For part 3 I am using the following logarithmic formula to show the logarithmic relation of a data set I created. y = log; (2) = (?)’ = 2-1 х 0 < 1 2 4 -1 -2 -3 8 4. Discuss how you determined part 3. Using z = 2-y, which is a formula equivalent to my initial logarithmic formula, the calculation of my x-values resulted in the following graph: This graph represents the inverse of the exponential function.
